In 1962, land and a house were donated by Ethel Martin to a handful of Godly, Pentecostal Christian men and women, who where burdened to establish a solid, Bible-preaching, Christ-centered, missionary-minded, Spirit filled church in the Forest Acres area of Columbia, SC
The first pastor of this new ministry was the Rev. Lila V. Medlin. Four years later, she invited Rev. Homer Willard Neese to speak for a revival service. During this revival, Rev. Medlin felt the call of the Holy Spirit to turn the responsibility of the Edgewood Mission over to the Rev. Neese.
On October 10, 1970, Pastor Neese and the official Edgewood board met with the Assistant Superintendent of the South Carolina Conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC), for the intent of joining the IPHC. The following Sunday, October 11th, God's purpose was brought into fulfillment with the vote of the Edgewood Mission to become Edgewood Pentecostal Holiness Church (EPHC).
The Rev. Homer Willard Neese served faithfully for 41 years until his Homegoing in 2007. The following served in the senior pastorate after Rev. Neese: Rev. Rick Williams, Rev. Lisa Smith, Rev. Donnie Meetze, Rev. Amber Floyd, and the Rev. Julian Bowles as an interim pastor. In August of 2019, Edgewood partnered with Crossroads Word Outreach Center, with Eric Jeffcoat serving as the campus pastor. The church then laid dormant for months in 2021. During this time, people prayed for the doors to open back, and in November 2021, Rev. Glenn Martin became the current senior pastor. Renovations were made and the doors to Edgewood opened back up on January 3, 2022.
From humble beginnings in a small, wood frame house, God has seen fit to bless EPHC with a beautiful all-inclusive sanctuary, nursery, Sunday school wing, kitchen and gym on approximately one acre of land. EPHC has a strong spiritual foundation, a rich history, and a bright future with Pastor Glenn and his wife Amy. It is a Spirit filled, Bible preaching church for Spirit filled, Bible loving people. It is a meaningful ministry for the lost to find salvation, a place for needy people to find hope and love and for the body of Christ to find love and fellowship.
